What is it like being you?
At this moment?

Seeing Without a Face

Close your eyes and picture yourself. You probably imagine a face – a fixed identity looking back at you. But now, open your eyes. Where is that face? In direct experience, you have no face. You are not behind your eyes, peering out like a little person inside your head. Instead, you are an open…

We all know we’re embedded in the world,
yet at the same time, we feel separate.

As if there’s a great big world out there and we are
tiny disconnected components in it.

But do you ever feel, truly feel, that it’s your very own?
That the world is IN you… even more than you are in it?

Maybe some doubt—plus a great deal of curiosity
about who or what you really are
(along with a few simple experiments)
will reveal something exciting…
something truly transformational…

SEEING FOR YOURSELF

Of all our senses, sight gives us the most information
in the quickest time.

So, we will SEE who or what is reading these words right now.

“The treasure of treasures for the soul is to pass from this something into this Nothingness, from which anything can be born.”

Experiment

Please note: It’s very important you actually DO these experiments, not just read them.

1. Using your first finger to direct your gaze
point at something, an object, in the room.
What does it look like? What colour is it?
Is it rough or smooth?
What shape is it?
Trace its outline with your finger.

2. Do the same with some other thing …
Notice both your finger and that thing

3. Now turn your finger to point at what you’re looking out of:
Is your finger pointing at something now?
Can you see any eyes? Or mouth? Any features at all?
Can you see, at this moment, your own face?

No? Congratulations!
